Snow! I know, just about everybody who reads this has been having snow, but it is such an oddity here at the coast that I just had to show you a couple pictures. This is our church. When we awoke this morning (Jan. 11) we had about an inch -- maybe 2 -- of the white stuff. We walked around the area with our cameras just loving every minute of it. So beautiful. And they had even more snow a little further north -- up to a foot in one place. And here is "our" lighthouse. Actually it is the Historic Yaquina Head Light and this view is just a few blocks from our house. To get to the lighthouse itself is about 2 mile drive.
I know I'm late in getting this blog posted. I guess I was not paying attention. Call it age!!! We arrived back in Newport last Thursday evening after a stop in Salem to have lunch with Ginger. Everything is great here. They managed to survive without us!!! On Sunday we had 17 in attendance -- two visitors, plus a mother/daughter who have been coming about a month. Every time I see these folks I am encouraged. They have a such a great heart for their church and for the Lord. Here are two prayer requests: 1) we need men, 2) we need musicians -- any kind will do but piano-keyboard-guitar-song leader types would be nice. So just ask the Lord to send us some.
Now we begin to lay plans for growth. This probably means doing some things to reach the neighborhood. Just what, I'm not sure. And the church people need to be behind it. I think they will be. Well, I'm off to build a snowman (actually it's dark and most of the snow has melted) so I'll build it in my mind. Oh, guess what? Joyce and I are not sleeping on the floor on our air mattresses any more. The friend of a lady in the church had an extra bed she would give us (or the church, I'm not sure which). Another lady has a pickup so we went to get it Tuesday. Now..... we are sleeping on a Select Comfort king-size bed -- the kind with the air chambers you inflate to your "sleep number" (his and hers numbers, of course). It only took Joyce and I three tries to get it together correctly. God is good!
